How to give an online practice test on E-GYAN NIDHI

📋 Before You Begin

  1. Create your account via the Student Login → Register link. Use your real name — it appears on your result page.
  2. Use a desktop or laptop for the best experience. The site also works on mobile but the question palette is larger on a wide screen.
  3. Stable internet matters. The test auto-submits at the end of the timer. If you lose connection, your selected answers are kept on the server up to the last sync.
  4. Browser: Use the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Keep JavaScript enabled.
  5. Pre-test check: Close other tabs and notifications. Use the bathroom. Keep a pen + rough sheet handy for calculations.

🎯 Choosing a Test

  • Available Tests on your dashboard are pre-built by admins — start with these to warm up.
  • Create Custom Test lets you pick a subject, unit and topic, then choose how many questions you want (up to 100). Best for focused practice.
  • ★ My Review List contains every question you've bookmarked or got wrong in past attempts. Re-test from this list to fix your weak spots.

⏱ During the Test

  • Timer: Each question gets 60 seconds by default (you can reduce the time to check your speedy reply of questions). The countdown is at the top-right and the test auto-submits at zero.
  • Question palette on the right shows green for attempted, grey for un-attempted, yellow ring for bookmarked. Click any number to jump.
  • Marking scheme: +4 for correct, −1 for incorrect, 0 for un-attempted. Skip if you have no idea — guessing wrong costs you.
  • Bookmark a tough question to revisit later — your bookmarks are saved in your account and appear in your Review List automatically.
  • Do not refresh the page during the test. If you accidentally close the tab, your active session is held briefly — re-login fast.
  • ⚠️ Do not minimize the browser or switch tabs during the test. The first attempt to minimize or switch triggers a warning; on the second attempt the test is automatically submitted and your current score is shown.
  • Submit early using the Submit button at the bottom once you've answered everything you can.

📊 After Submitting

  • Your score and percentage appear immediately.
  • Scroll down to see every question with the correct / incorrect badge and the explanation.
  • Click ★ Save Wrong to Review List to add all wrong/unattempted questions to your study set in one click.
  • Or tap ☆ Add to Review on individual questions you want to revisit.
  • Your dashboard shows the last 8 attempts as a percentage chart so you can track improvement.

💡 Study Strategy Tips

  • Practice daily, even 30 minutes. Consistency beats long once-a-week sessions.
  • Start by topic, then mix. Master Genetics alone first, then mix it with Cell Biology, then attempt full-subject tests.
  • Read the explanation of every wrong answer. The "why" matters more than the "what".
  • Re-test your Review List weekly. The act of repeatedly answering the same hard questions is exactly how long-term memory forms.
  • Track your % over time. A flat line means you need to change topics; an upward line means stay the course.

⚠ If Something Goes Wrong

  • Test won't start: Refresh, log out + log in again.
  • Question shows broken text or missing options: Skip it. Tell us via the Suggestions page so we can fix it.
  • Score looks wrong: Use the View Details button on your dashboard — it shows what option you picked vs the correct one for every question.
  • Lost your password: Contact your admin (password reset flow coming soon).
